TAG Heuer Formula 1 Senna Special Edition Watch For 2022

Regularly, the watch brand TAG Heuer offers special editions paying tribute to one of the greatest pilots of all time and one of its best ambassadors: the Brazilian Ayrton Senna, who died in May 1994 during a accident on the San Marino circuit… This year, the watchmaker is therefore unveiling a new limited edition dedicated to this outstanding champion: the TAG Heuer Formula 1 Senna Special Edition replica watch, a quartz chrono with a 43 mm black DLC steel case.

Watch color

The colors of this chrono are black and yellow: a tribute to the emblematic colors of Ayrton Senna. The fact is that yellow is omnipresent in this 2021 edition, starting with the famous double S (the emblematic logo of the Brazilian pilot) which crowns the bezel at 12 o'clock alongside the Senna name.

Watch dial

The double S signature is also present in the sub-dial at 6 o'clock. The anthracite gray “V” shaped tricompax dial houses classic indicators for hours, minutes and seconds at 6, 9 and 3 o'clock. It is decorated with a discreet reminder mentioning “TAG Heuer Formula 1”.

 

The TAG Heuer Formula 1 “Senna Special Edition” 2021 also unveils a brushed black ceramic bezel highlighted by a yellow border that reinforces the sporty side of the watch. The number 400 is engraved on the bezel, in reference to the speed of 400 km/h… Never reached in Formula 1 (what interest then!?).

Watch movement

The hand and hour markers are coated with Superluminova to ensure optimal readability in all situations. This special edition houses a quartz movement; it is water resistant to 200 meters. Finally, the image of the emblematic helmet of the Brazilian pilot appears on the case back and is next to a special engraving, indicating “Senna Special Edition”.

Watch strap

Finally, we notice the embossed black leather strap, in reference to the strap of the S/EL (Sport Et Elegance) watch that Ayrton Senna used to wear (a “must” at the time). This iconic bracelet was the first made by TAG Heuer and its unique and distinctive S-shaped design is perfectly recognizable.

 

On this new edition, the leather strap is enhanced by yellow stitching and reveals a black steel clasp, equipped with push-buttons serving as double security. Available from November 2021.
